Sunrise Moon Star Organic Cotton Batik Dress
Sunrise Moon Star Organic Cotton Batik Dress

This authentic batik dress is completely handmade from start to finish. I painted the entire design with pure beeswax to be used as a resist for the batik. The varying colors were created through a triple layer submersion technique using cold water process dyes. The final step requires boiling the dress clean of the beeswax and dye, which I do manually for each piece.
The edges are raw cut and do not fray. The soft organic cotton material has been carefully chosen for its quality and strength. The batik design and color is very durable and the fabric will not shrink with regular machine washing and drying. My batik process is rigorous enough to determine a quality garment that will withstand decades of wear and appreciation.
Measurements are taken with the dress laying flat, not stretched. The style is designed to stretch gently, but not stretch out. The knit fabric complements the body's shape and gently loosens over the course of the day. The sizing and shape remains consistent with washing and drying, and the batik painting will stay vibrant for years to come.
The style is reversible and can be worn with the design on the front or back.

✨ How to Care for Batikwalla Clothing
(from the artist’s hands to your everyday life)
Every Batikwalla garment is made to be worn, washed, and lived in. I boil each piece during the batik process to remove the beeswax, which also sets the dye and softens the fabric. These are not delicate or high-maintenance garments — they’re durable, comfortable, and made to last.
🌀 Washing Notes:
-
Machine wash with like colors — warm, cold, or hot is fine
-
Tumble dry is recommended — especially for hoodies and heavier knits
-
Avoid bleach or harsh detergents
-
No need to hang dry (unless you're backpacking through Europe)
Machine washing and drying actually helps. It’s not only safe for the fabric — it can help remove any lingering dye and make the piece even softer over time.
Most of my garments are sewn from knit fabrics like cotton jersey or cotton fleece — these were made to move, stretch, and relax. Whether it’s a hoodie, tee, or pair of yoga pants, your Batikwalla clothing is meant to go where you go — and come out of the wash looking even better.
